April Snow Alley is the famous tung blossom-watching trail in Sanyi, located right behind the Wood Sculpture Museum. The trail leads to forest trails on Mt. Tzi-Chi, one of the major tea-producing areas in Sanyi Township. The entire lane will be covered in white tung blossoms every April and May. It's about a 1 km walk from entrance of the trail to Tzi-Chi Mountain Tea Garden. In addition to tung trees in the major forest, there are also comphor trees and Taiwan acacia along the trail. There are also the remains of a stone-made charcoal kiln built by ancestors, reminding people about how the charcoal industry used to flourish in this area. The middle section of the trail is companied by a 200 meters long area of well-preserved natural tung tree forest. Every April, the white tung blossoms on both sides of the trail will fly and fall as the wind blows, creating a scene that is easily mistaken as snow in the winter. April Snow Alley is gradual and easy to walk; however, you may also take the alternative Mt. Tzi-Chi trail, which is steeper and has less visitors, on the return trip from the other side of the tea garden.
