When it comes to Lugang's most representative building, it's bound to be the Lugang Longshan Temple. Established as early as the Ming Dynasty, Longshan Temple already has over 400 years of history. Only after constant reconstruction did it finally reach its present-day scale. Not only is the temple an important and valuable Qing Dynasty historical site, its also an important asset for studying architectural aesthetics. Longshan Temple is quite intact, and the magnificent caisson ceiling above the stage is the earliest and largest surviving work of art in Taiwan. It's not only for decoration, but also for the purposes of acting as well. The temple also pays respect to the Dragon King. During the Daoguan period of the Qing Dynasty  some 180 years ago, there were known successful cases of praying for rain.  The Dragon Boat Festival held every year in Lugang has always been the most prosperous and lively in central Taiwan.
