Located at an altitude between 2000 and 2996 meters and within the swirling mists and clouds, are the abundant forests of Daxueshan. It's quite the magical sight. This location was once a forestry station during its early years. The forest is divided into three sections: warm, temperate, and cool forest belts, and possesses the world's largest area of giant alpine trees, including hemlock forests, cypress forests, broadleaved forests, and many more. It's a zone that features the best of Taiwan's natural forests. The trees in the giant tree area reach up to 1400 years in age and tower into the sky. Imposing, they have always been one of Daxueshan's important scenic spots. In addition, this is also a place where wild birds gather. Many birdwatchers always journey here in hopes of catching a glimpse of the rare Taiwan blue pheasant. At the park's observation deck, you may view Daxueshan's sunrise and sea of clouds. Admire nature's beauty in a comfortable atmosphere. There's also a pond with green water here: Tianchi, which doesn't dry up, even throughout the year. Even if it's misty or foggy, it only serves to further amplify it's mysterious air. During the clear and refreshing autumn season, come here to enjoy the view of fire-red maples. Overcast days will cause the scenery to carry the illusion of a mysterious wonderland, so there's no need to worry either.
