There are many different branches and sects of Buddhism located throughout the world. The branch of Buddhism developed in Taiwan is distinctively Chinese. If you visit the Chung Tai Chan Monastery in central Taiwan, its magnificence may surprise you. There are more than 80 branches of the Chung Tai Chan Temple located throughout Taiwan. Meditation activities are held regularly, and its outer appearance combines aspects of both the West and East. Standing tall on top of the mountain, it's a spectacular sight and resembles a Buddhist pyramid at first glance. The dignified space inside the hall is solemn and sacred in atmosphere, and attracts a constant stream of both devoted believers and tourists. Even if you're not a Buddhist, you're bound to be attracted by the peaceful and serene environment here. In front of the main hall, there's a pond with a creative and unique design; the main building was constructed to face Puli's beautiful scenery and provides a wide field of vision. With  Luye Yuan (Deer Park) on one side  and the solemn and serious temple on the other, this is a place where people may come to free themselves of their worries and go for a walk. Follow the trail as you go, and you'll come across a tall and seemingly unapproachable thorny silk-floss tree. Search around for a bit, there's even an amusing stone carving of Doraemon installed here; its something that garners the attention of adults and children alike. This kind of humor is a great contrast to the solemn Chung Tai Chan, and you can't help but laugh out loud as you see it!
