Geloina Erosa, or the giant mud clam, is native to Taiwan's mangroves and it's 5 or 6 times larger in volume than the average clam. Kouhu Township is the largest source of giant mud clams, and as a result Geloina Clam Eco and Leisure Park was established. When visiting, you absolutely must try out a roasted or steamed giant mud clam (which are as large as your fist). You can also sample the local oysters as well, although they may not be as stunning as the mud clams, they still taste great! After you finish eating and have come to a better understanding of the giant mud clam, you can head to the outdoor fish farm and experience for yourself the local lifestyle---ride on a rubber raft and touch the clams!! Roll up your pant legs, and search for the hidden giant mud clams buried within the large pond. This is really one of the most interesting and refreshing leisure activities! If you don't want to get your clothes wet, you can also choose to experience more quiet DIY activities. You can create all sorts of handicrafts from the shells of the clams, and turn them into a unique and one-of-a-kind souvenir.
