Located in northeastern New Taipei City’s Ruifang District, by Jinguashi’s Jinguang Road and the Benshan Fifth Tunnel is a museum situated on what was once a gold mining area. In older times, it was originally the biggest area for gold production in Asia. Now the museum hopes to preserve Jinguashi’s history from the past. Its first floor displays the mining history of the Jiufen, Jinguashi area as well as relevant mining relics. The second floor displays culture, art, history, science, and other aspects related to gold. The third floor contains the outdoors gold-mining experience. A number of facilities are within the area, including the Gold Mining Museum, environmental building, Crown Prince Chalet, Gold-refining Building, and other activity areas. In order to better display Jinguashi’s mines and its mining transportation equipment and system, the general population is allowed to enter through the Benshan Fifth Tunnel and experience it for themselves. From time to time, special exhibitions will also be displayed.
