Oil-paper umbrellas are an unique traditional Hakka craft. The whole umbrella is made and painted by hand. Some common painted patterns are lotus flowers, peonies, and most of the time, calligraphy inscriptions. These umbrellas are a work of art that truly embodies Asian art and culture. There is an exhibition hall for paper umbrellas within the cultural village, and also experts on site making paper umbrellas that wow the crowd. In addition to just looking, there are also wide variety of hands-on activities, such as paper umbrella making and clay spinning, so that the visitors who come to visit can all leave with an unique souvenir.
