While on the streets of Shiding, you will see a sign with the words “Hundred Year Old Stone House” written on it. Approximately six years before the Republic of China, the first two sides  of the Stone House were built. However, the right side (kitchen) was only completed several years later. Without the explanation of a guide, some of the empty corners and spaces are simply unidentifiable as part of a bed. Inside the main hall is a Chinese medicine cabinet, as well as mortar and other implements left behind by the ancestors. Going up the stone stairs, you can see a garden. The stone chairs and tables are all covered with moss, and visible traces of Buddha can be seen on the stone walls. On East Street, there are two households connected to a Chinese medicine and groceries store. The stairs and walls inside are all built of stone. On Shiding East Street there are several hundred-year old buildings, possessing the early characteristics of Shiding. Inside, they contain many stone tools and ancient medicine-making equipment. Here, you can experience and feel what life was like for people living in the past.
