Luodong Forestry Cultural Park is located at No. 118, Zhongzheng North Road, in Yilan County's Luodong Township. Once Luodong's forestry station in the past, the area is around 20 hectares, and in 1916 the Japanese used it as a storage for wood from Taipingshan. Luodong's Songluo Pi was used as a storage and collection area. Due to the local people calling out "songluo" when examining the wood, the area was therefore named "Songluo". After Luodong Forest's railway was completed, 2 diesel vehicles-"China Special Expresses"-were purchased, and operated between Ludong and the field. The typhoon erosions of Minguo 67 though, caused damage and halted transportation of goods. The following year, the forest railway was stopped completely, with the production and transportation of the lumber modified. The railway was then dismantled, and developed into Luodong Forestry Cultural Park. The park features the 300 meters long Wufenzi railway, a steam engine used for lumber transportation, Zhulin station, forest railroad, an ecology pond, machine gun fortress, storage yard, a hundred year old book vendor, nature education center, and exhibition area for steam engines. There's more as well, with the Luodong Forestry Management Office, a forestry trail, outdoor bamboo coffee area, wood carvings, wood-unloading platform, wood storage area, north machine gun fortress, aquatic pond and trail, outdoor rest area, forest railway stations with old ticket signs, worker dormitories, and many more facilities and landscapes. The hundred year old book vendor possesses forestry, animal, plantlife, landscape, travel, fairy-tale, and more books, with a total of eleven categories. There's also research reports and papers relating to the forest industry, and a number of ecological films. The aquatic plantlife exhibition area breeds lotus, water lilies, and other plants. Because the park is located near a train station, when you come here to visit you can also see the trains passing by.
