Buluowan is around 8 kilometres away from the Taroko Tourist Centre. It is a terrace that used to be the where the Taroko aborigines dwelled. In the Tarokan language, Buluowan means  "the echo of the valley"; its location at the down stream of the Liwu Creek and natural landscape of the Taroko valley creates a continuous echo surrounding the valley, therefore earning the name of Buluowan. There are two parts of the Buluowan terrain, the upper terrace and the lower terrace, with 30 meters height difference between each other. The lower terrace is the management station, providing tour guiding and information for visitors, as well as an exhibition centre of traditional Tarokan arts and Atayal history. You can walk down to the Meander Core Park from the lower terrace and enjoy the beauty of the creek and valley as you walk along the cliff-edge trail. The upper terrace, on the other hand, is organised as an accommodation centre, providing dining and accommodation services. Buluowan terrace is a combination of a tropical monsoon forest, meander core, and river terrace, abundant in ecological resources. You can immerse yourself in the relaxing atmosphere and beauty of Taroko Valley at Buluowan Recreational Area. Moreover, Taroko Managing Office also plants the indigenous Taiwan lily here. Every April, the blooming lilies will fill the valley with white, so make sure you don't miss this unforgettable scene if you're visiting during the flower season.
