After entering Taroko and passing through the Shakadang Trail, you'll come across the Changchun Shrine after not long. You'll have to cross a large red bridge in front of the shrine first. The bridge will allow you to overlook the river valley landscape. Next, you'll also have to pass through a few pitch-black caverns, however they're quite short so there's no need to bring a flashlight. Underneath Changchun Shrine flows a small waterfall-the Changchun Waterfall. Observing from far away, the waterfall adds an additional layer of beauty to the shrine. Changchun Shrine is dedicated to ancestors who dug and built this path. When you arrive here, you ought to pay your respects and express gratitude, regardless of your beliefs. Located behind the shrine, there's stairs that you can take to reach the Guanyin Cave. Taroko Tower, and clock tower (the highest point). However the road is precipitous, and a one-way trip will take around 50 minutes. Those with low stamina or weak knees should not attempt it. The scenery at the top of the summit is gorgeous though, and is suitable for tourists with time to spare who want to test their limits. The river valley eroded by the Liwu Creek is called "Gourd Valley", due to its shape. If you take the stairs to Guanyin Cave, Taroko Taower, and the clock tower, and then cross another bridge, you'll reach Shanguang Temple. Once there, you can choose to directly turn and head back, or go through a tunnel. and reach the outer path, connecting you with the Central Cross-Island Highway. This path is around 1.3 kilometers and takes 50 minutes to complete. The slopes are steep, and watch out for the slipperiness after rain. Traveling in Taroko is quite convenient, as there is a Taiwan Tourist Shuttle that you can take at every scenic spot, with frequent buses. You should take advantage of Taiwan Tourist Shuttle's services and tour Taiwan's great scenic spots!
