Songshan Cultural and Creative Park is located in Taipei City's Xinyi District, and was formerly the Matsuyama Tobacco Plant of the Monopoly Bureau of the Taiwan Governor's Office. After the Sino-Japanese War, the demand for cigarettes and exports increased, so the Songshan Tobacco Plant was built while the demand was still in short supply. Later on due to the urban space, declining demand, and declining competitiveness in the market, as well as other reasons, Songshan Tobacco Plant became another part of history, and became an idle factory. Until 2001, the Taipei government designated this place as a historical site. Cultural, artistic, sightseeing, and leisure activities were planned, with the park area featuring a general office, warehouses 1-5, tobacco factories, boiler inspection rooms, repair areas, nursery room, baroque garden, ecology pond, public baths, and a multi-purpose exhibtion hall. In order to reuse and reactivate the park's former areas, arts, cultural, creative, design, and other activities have been combined. The habitats outside are quite diverse as well. You can come across vegetation from gulf and marsh wetlands, including tropical, subtropical, cool, and temperate plants. The factory area contains a pond and an aquatic environment. In past recent years, some commonly seen animals are black-crowned night herons, moorhens, kingfishers, egrets, crucian carps, carps, and catfish.
