The Xiahai City God Temple is located at Taipei City's Dihua Street, in Datong District, and is one of the three major temples in Dadaocheng. It's also a relatively important temple in the Greater Taipei Area. Xiahai City God Temple's main religion is Daoism, or Taiwanese folk religion centered around Cheng Huang, and its polytheistic. In addition to being dedicated to Cheng Huang,  the temple also pays respect to Yue Lao, 8 Officials, civil and military magistrates, General Fan Xie ( Hei Bai Wuchang: deities responsible for rewarding the good and punishing the bad ), 8 Generals, and more. According to legend, the 13th day of the 5th month of the lunar calendar is when Cheng Huang's birthday is celebrated. Cheng Huang temples from all over will host religious festivals. Cheng Huang is the god of yin and yang, and is also a guardian god of the city in Chinese mythology, specializing in recording, reporting, and holding trial for good and evil. Xiahai City God Temple is combined with Fa Chu Kung Temple and Cisheng Temple on May 13th. This is the "Cheng Huang Territory Procession", and will take place on the lunar calendar starting on May 6th.  On the 11th and 12th day of the lunar calendar, Hei Bai Wuchang will tour, on the 13th day Cheng Huang will tour. The activities are even accompanied by glove puppets, Chinese opera, and other popular traditional Taiwanese folk skills and arts. The temple architecture is a simple one-hall layout; Xiahai City God Temple's main distinguishing quality would be its "vegetable-knife shaped" exterior, which possesses the function of cleaving open and warding off evil spirits. Aside from Cheng Huang and Yue Lao matchmaking, what attracts visitors to come to the temple would be the "Fortune Shoes". It's Taipei's well-known love shrine. It is said that Cheng Huang and his wife had an age difference of 70 years between them, which led to the "Fortune Shoes" being created.
