The current location of Maple Garden used to be the greenfield site of Taichung’s international exhibition centre. However, the plan ended up nowhere due to the delaying construction, Taichung City Government then decided to alter the original plan and build a greenland park with artificial lake on this site, giving it multiple functions including flood detention, recreation, and ecological preservation, and it was named the Maple Garden.
There are trails, lookouts, and wooden plaza in the verdant park, as well as trails built on top of the lake that brought visitors closer to the nature.
However, the most eye-catching site of Maple Garden is not the scenery but the flock of ducks floating wobbly on lake or hiding in bushes.
A reminder for visitors would be to bring mosquito repellent along on your visit, as the flourishing ecology here, without doubts, includes the family of tiny itch-causing bugs.
