The Presidential Office Building is located on Ketagalan Avenue, and is the highest center of government in Taiwan. Grand and imposing, the building is set off by a spacious square. It is a particularly distinguished monument as well. Ever year on New Year's Day and National Day, it is the site of a flag-raising ceremony. On National Day, honored guests from all over will visit and attend. During the ceremony, performances prepared by each visiting country will be held, such as fighter aircraft shows, military parades, and folk dances. Inside the building, you can see towering columns, elegant carvings, winding corridors, and elaborate arches everywhere. Its design is representative of Europe's baroque architecturial features, including pillars, gables, bull's eye windows, Roman columns, and more. Within, there's a reception hall, presidential office, parlor, large assembly hall, and Jieshou Pavilion. After it was opened up for visits, the quiet and serious presidential building experienced much popularity and liveliness.
