Baisha Bay has been well-known since the Japanese occupation era, and is located between Linshanbi and Fuguijiao    in Shimen District. It is a half-moon shaped, natural bay formed by the combination of Linshanbi and Fuguijiao. It's pure white sands are renowned and unique in the area. The grains of sand are also very coarse. Due to long term exposure to wind erosion, there are several protruding raised ridges near the beach. The facilities here are complete, consisting of changing rooms, food and beverage department, rest area, swimming equipment rentals, and more. Tourists who come here may take part in swimming, fishing, sail boating, diving, windsurfing, hang gliding, and all sorts of other water activities. They are all popular and well-recieved summertime activities. The ecology near Baisha Bay is also rich, producing an abundance of black seabream and oysters.  Therefore, there are always plenty of people who come down to fish or pick up shells. You can follow  along the beach westward, and come across a gravel beach, composed of ash-grey andesite and formed by the 800,000 year old Mt. Datun volcanic range. Due to the magma containing different mineral components, the rock surface is mixed with black speckles. If you wish to understand more about the ecosystem, you can head to Baisha Bay Visitor's Center for additional information.
