Yangming Oceanic Culture and Art Museum is located in Ren'ai District, No.4 Gangxi Street. It was built by Nippon Yusen as a Keelung branch office, and was constructed in the "historical style" popular during that time. The original building was composed of two symmetric and eclectic buildings; one of the buildings possessed a rounded minaret, however it became destroyed during World War II.The buildings left behind after Taiwan regained control, as well as the external walls and elegant arches, were taken over first by China Merchants Group, before Yangming Marine Transport Corp. It's classified as one of Keelung City's top 10 historic buildings. Its goals include education, knowledge, entertainment, history, economics, and internationalism. The first floor contains the service desk and the 1915 Ocean Cafe. The second and third floors display classic and sophisticated marine technologies and special exhibition halls for ocean ecological landscapes. The museum contains regular and special exhibition areas; the regular area displays a model of Keelung Harbor, the changes starting from China Merchants Group until Yangming Marine Transport Corp, ship piloting simulation, captain dress-up experience, Yangming Shipping exhibition, sailing equipment from both modern and ancient times, and other experiences and exhibits, while the special area changes its display from time to time. These different display themes all suit and integrate with the surrounding local culture and tourism resources.
