The temple is located near Dahan River's Lien Zuo Shan (Lotus Hill), with Daxi Old Street close by. Because Lien Zuo Shan's topographical features are just like a lotus flower discharging water, it was given its current name. The Lien Zuo Shan Guanyin Temple was established during the Qing Dynasty, and has already been around for 200 years. Built in honor of Guanyin Buddha, it is currently approved by the Ministry of the Interior as a category 3 monument. Before entering the temple, there are street vendors selling lotus fruits to visitors to use for worship. Walking up the stairs,  the sight of the temple is one located on a mountain hill top, independent from the rest of the world. The courtyard has an antique banyan tree; it not difficult to imagine everyone gathering under the tree in the afternoon, chatting and playing chess while cooling off. The main bulk of the temple is constructed in a fairly rare five door, single palace hall style.  Many classic clay sculptures, wood and stone carvings, window lattices, guardian dragons, painted designs, as well as centuries old Jiaozhi pottery still remain. All are fairly simple but still elegant and delicate; in contrast to the modern temple. The hilltop scenery is a must see, and is worth a visit.
