Guandu Nature Park is located at the intersection of the Tamsui River and the Keelung River.  It was established in 1981 to protect this piece of natural habitat from being destroyed. This rare natural sanctuary eventually became the favorite sanctuary of Guandu area's endangered birds. Within the park there are large swamp areas and mangrove forests. There are large varieties of different wildlife within the red mangrove, ranging from birds, to fishes, and even seasonal crabs. There is a conservation core area, outdoor observation area, and sustainable management within the park. Wide varieties of waterfowls can be spotted within the park. Birds such as the green-winged teals, night herons, tree magpies, and more can be spotted here. The bird season always draws a big crowd every year; and Gudandu Nature Park becomes the hottest waterfowl watching area. Guandu Nature Park often host events relating to swamp environmental education to spread the basic knowledge of swamplands, their importance, and how to protect the environment and the animals there.
