Beitou Hot Spring Museum is located in the Beitou District, on Zhongshan Road, No.2. In the past, it was a public hot spring bathing spot, therefore it's also known as the "Beitou Hot Spring Bathing Spot". It is a museum that preserves historic site in the Beitou area. The museum was built in the year 1913. and imitates the style of the Izusan Hot Springs of Shizuoka, Japan. It contains two floors, and possesses pavilions, shoe-changing hall, male and female changing rooms, and individual bathing pools. In addition, it also features individual bathrooms and leisure and rest areas. The Ministry of the Interior designated it as a level three historic site in 1997, and was renovated by the city government's Department of Civil Affairs into the Beitou Hot Spring Museum. It covers an area of 700 pings, and is a two-story, English-style, brick building. The first floor contains a brick-built bath, while a wooden rest area is on the second floor. There's also recreation rooms, and a stained glass arched window can be found on the west side of the first floor, as well as many precious Beitou stones.
The exhibition area focuses on on the history and development of Beitou's hot springs, ranging from the principles of hot springs, Beitou stones, and volcanoes, to the later-stage development of the Beitou hot springs, Ketagalan history (Beitou's indigenous peoples), Beitou's industries, and the Hollywood of Taiwan. As of now, the number of visitors allowed to tour the museum is limited to 100 people. When entering, you'll need to first change into slippers. The outdoors area, however, is quite beautiful due to the lawn.
