Teresa Teng Memorial Park is located within New Taipei City's Jinshan District, No.18, Xishihu. Teresa Teng, otherwise known as Teng Liyun, was born in Yunlin County of Taiwan and had Hebei ancestry. She is Taiwan's most famed Chinese-language singer. She's also one of the most important figures in the development of pop music in Mainland China after their reform. Not only did her songs reunite feelings of compatriotism in Chinese throughout the world, she is a common memory shared by them as well and also dubbed by the Japanese show business as "Asia's Idol". In 1981, she spent a month running between military camps, including the frontline of Kinmen, visiting military forces, soldiers, and officers and sang for them. However she passed away in 1995 at age 42, due to a bout of asthma while visiting Chiang-Mai, Thailand. She was buried in Jinbaoshan Cemetery, in Jinshan. But even years after her death, Teresa Teng's influence on Mandarin music has not dimished in the slightest. Aside from the religious design and aspect of Jinbaoshan, it also possesses an artistic atmosphere, such over a thousand Buddha statues completed by dozens of outstanding sculptors. There's also the Beiling Area, displaying sculptures of famous and noted figures, for instance, puppet master Li Tianlu, film director Hu Jinquan, and politician Lu Xiuyi.
Located in the plaza in front of the entrance, is the Teresa Teng Memorial Hall, which incoporates a giant keyboard sculpture, music garden, a statue of Teresa Teng herself, jukebox, and more. The museum features relics donated by the Teng family, including outfits that she once wore during perofrmanes. The giant keyboard was designed with computer technology, and will emit a beautiful note if stepped on. The music garden is located by a small flowerbed, and bushes are arranged to form music notes, while the jukebox contains 10 well-known songs by Teng. Her sweet and pleasant singing voice always exists inside the hearts of listeners, and all throughout the year, travelers and her fans will always visit in remembrance.
