Yinyang Sea is located in New Taipei City's Ruifang District, Lianxin Li, on the northern side of the Shuinandong Settlement. Known as the Shuinandong Yinyang Sea, it's name is simply shortened to just "Yinyang Sea". It's also otherwise known as "Liandong Wan". Yinyang Sea came to be due to Jinguashi's mountain creek waters collecting into the sea. The waters were rich in mineral content, and as a result, the estuary possesses half golden and half dark blue water all year round. This is in start contrast to the normal blue seawaters located in the offshore direction. There are a total of three landscapes in Taiwan called "Yinyang Sea": one is located at Yilan County's Toucheng Township, Turtle Island. Another is at New Taipei City's Jinshan District. The third is this one, the well-known Shuinandong Yinyang Sea. Shuinandong's Yinyang Sea is a natural phenomenon formed by natural minerals, rather than being the result of factory pollutants. Although Yinyang Sea may appear to be tannish-yellow in color, the seabed located three meters below is still blue. Located nearby is the Shuinandong Smelter, as well as a popular wedding photography scene: the Golden Waterfall. During the Japanese occupation period, Shuinandong Smelter was a copper depot, but after Guomingtang came to Taiwan, it was handed over to the Taiwan Gold Company for continued operation. It was later abandoned, and every entrance was marked with warning signs, stating the following: This area contains hazardous substances, including arsenic and copper, which may influence your health. Please do not enter.
