The forest is located within Jinshan's Mautu Tribe, and is known as "Wudu" in the Atayal language, referring to the collection of resrouces. During the Japanese colonial period, it was changed to "Mautu" and has since remained that way. Mautu Discovery Forest covers an area of around 450 hectares, with its altitude sitting around 600-1300 meters above sea level. The park possesses an abundance of temperate and tropical zone ecological resources. There are many trails within the park,  you can go for a walk at one of the trails and enjoy the forest atmosphere. Mautu Discovery Forest provides ecology guides in both English and Chinese. However, you must first make an appointment (call the reservation hotline: 03-5478645).  For explanation fees, please refer to Mautu Discovery Forest's website:   http://www.discovery-forest.com.tw. In addition to providing light meals, the park is also equipped with a barbecue area. You may ask a park ranger for help or prepare yourself.
