Gaofeng Botanical Garden is located at Hsinchu City's East District, on Baoshan Road. It covers an area of 35 hectares, and was established in the year 1932.  During the Japanese occupation period it was used to cultivate saplings, mainly native and foreign-introduced species. After Taiwan's liberation, it was merged with Hsinchu's agriculture and forestry. In 2015, a bridge named "Hakka Tung Blossom Trail Pedestrian Bridge" was oepened, connecting to Shibajianshan. In addition, a tung blossom plaza was built. 
The garden is divided into two sections: the plant nursery and hillside. The nursery contains a coconut forest, Chinese cedar, mahogany, camphor, beech, eucalyptus, and more, as well as ecology ponds and green lawns. The hillside contains a lotus trail, bamboo forest trail, fitness trail, breadfruit tree area, marsh area, and others. The vegetation on the mountains can be classified into either artifical and native plants. In total, the garden possesses 342 types of plants and vegetation, 40 species of birds, and 20 species of insects. The variety plants planted here is quite rich and abundant.
