Hsinchu's Neiwan Old Street is an unavoidable location that must be passed through, on the way towards Jianshi. The main population is mostly Hakka, and the street has become a popular spot only recently. Neiwan Scenic Area is surrounded by mountains, and the climate is quite comfortable. With the Youluo Creek running through, Neiwan has become a most relaxing paradise. In addition, the trains of the Neiwan Branch Line are amongst one Taiwan Railway's three branch lines. The train's interior and exterior retains an old-fashioned style. Tourists can take the Neiwan Branch Line at Zhudong to directly reach Neiwan. Many interesting scenic spots are located within the vicinity of Neiwan, such as the Neiwan Theater and Neiwan Suspension Bridge. There's the Liu Xingqin museum, dedicated to the popular Taiwanese cartoonist, and sure to bring up nostalgic memories. The special and characteristic Hakka cuisine, however, is also the reason why many people visit Neiwan. Several delicious snacks can be found: there's wild ginger flower dumplings, purple jade vegetable buns, Hakka ground tea, Hakka mochi, and many more. Don't miss out! If you would like to taste some traditional Hakka dishes, Neiwan Theater (Hakka Culture Restaurant) is a must-visit location. Aside from using Hakka ingredients in the food, the theater contains many antique decorations and implements. On holidays or weekends, you can enjoy old Taiwanese movies playing as you eat your meal. It's just like returning to the past!
