Huoyanshan Forest Ecological Education Center is located in Miaoli County's Sanyi Township, on Zhongzheng Road, No.73. It was established during Minguo Year 73, and sits at an elevation of 602 meters above sea level. The peaks of Huoyanshan are bare in vegetation. Due to the loose soil of the mountain, it is easily washed away by heavy rains. The rains eventually washed away the rock walls, turning their colors orange, yellow, or red. Whenever the sun shines, it appears just like a blazing fire. Erosion by the Daxi River has formed a mountain peak,  while the layer of gravel and cobblestones hidden underneath form a unique landscape. The education center mainly educates on Huoyanshan's special geology, but also introduces the Sanyi area's natural ecology. The center consists of 4 floors. On the first basement floor, there is an ecological pavilion for plants and insects. The first floor is the tourist service center, where visitors may ask for information regarding guides. The second floor is a Huoyanshan-themed exhibition hall, featuring detailed introductions to Huoyanshan's geology, while the third floor contains a multi-media audio visual room for screening ecological films. There are also courses that you can enroll in, including outdoor courses, static courses, work courses, ecology camps, and more, as well as lectures and research from time to time. Located near the center are precious and rare landscapes, so signs are established reminding visitors not to illegally take or damage the land.
