Taian Railway Cultural Area is located at No.54 Fuxing Road, in Taichung's Houli District. It is a discontinued railway station located along the old mountain line. The route has since been switched to a new one. Located near the old Taiwan station are tunnels and railway facilities, which are now retired and open for tours. In 2010, the former mountain line re-opened to become a tourism and sightseeing line. From Sanyi Station to the old Taian Station, one can come across the tallest points of Taiwan Railway along the way: Shengxing Station, sitting at 402.326 meters above sea level, as well as the Yutengping Bridge ruins. The bridge was built during the Japanese occupation era, and was declared to be "a work of railway art in Taiwan". 7 tunnels and 3 iron bridges, and Liyutan Reservoir will be encountered throughout the trip. Taian Station's exterior is built in a Japanese style and out of wood. Due to the limitations of the route's slope, the entrance is built in a special way. The pillars on the platform are made out of rails produced during the early 20th century. There is also a commemoration to the damage caused by the great 1935 earthquake.
