During the era of railway transportation, bananas, rice, fruits, and timber were transportated amongst villages and stations, which experienced severe inclination after the September 21st earthquake. After restoration, Jiji Station retained its original wooden Japanese style. It is the only railway station left from the Japanese era. Presently, it is a simple station managed by Nantou County's Jiji Town Office, and sells business card-style tickets for Taiwan Rail. The main vehicle is a DR 1000 diesel passenger (air-conditioned diesel passenger). There's also a railway relics exhibit hall, which was originally a scrap warehouse. Established in 1988 to display the old coal-powered steam locomotive, it also displays a miniature version of the Jiji town map and photographs of various places in Jiji for tourists to visit. The station is a popular filming location for many dramas.
Military history parks, Jiji Town Office, Qingshui River, Mingxin Academy, Jiji Railway Cultural Relics Museum, and other scenic spots are located nearby. When touring the station, please follow the instruction of station staff. Do not walk on railways not open for sight-seeing for your own safety.
