Baimiweng Fort is also known as Holland Castle, with an alternate name of Ancient Guanghua Fort. It is located at the west bank of Keelung Port. Together with the east bank's fort, they guard the port entrance. The ruins are preserved with cannon areas, ammunition depots, observation stations, machine gun positions, and so forth. A command post is situated on a small hill, west of the cannons. The observation stations are located on the right side of the hilltop, while the four forts that are lined up to face the sea and serve as frontline against the enemy are Baimiweng’s biggest and most distinguished characteristic. Currently, it is classified as a class 3 national monument. Coupled with three large coal fire-powered chimneys, they have become a landmark for Keelung Port. Next to the pavilion, stone steps lead up to an observation station on the right hand side. The trees growing on top of the hill are thick and wild, and overlook into the sky-blue seas. Many Taiwanese TV shows and soap operas also use this place as a filming location, with one such show being“Story of Time.
