Sheng-Hsing Station is the highest point of the Western Line, as well as the toughest, steepest section of the railway. There is a monument stating the altitude, 402.326 meters above sea level, settled on the platform of the station. The entire Sheng-Hsing Station is built in wood and constructed in the traditional Japanese canine tooth-style architecture, which was said to be auspicious. Shanghaiing Station was built in 1906, with over a hundred years of history. There are many historical facilities preserved from the Japanese colonial period, such as the electric stopboard, which has been replaced with a central monitoring system. Currently, there are no trains passing and stopping at Sheng-Hsing Station anymore, but it has become a popular spot for wedding photography, SUV riding, and tourism.  Although it is no longer linked with the rail system, you can still take the mini-train at Sheng-Hsing Station. Every Saturday and Sunday, there will be a cruise-like train riding from Sanyi Station to the old Taian Station.
