※San Zhan River is a river than many people come to see when they visit Hualien. The upper stream of the river is split into San Zhan North and San Zhan South, which both eventually reach the sea. The south branch is hugely popular and there are usually lots of people dotted across it enjoying the water in the sun, but it is because of this that the north branch is very quiet, rarely seeing any people at all, and therefore much better for experiencing natural river hiking.
※San Zhan River is a river than many people come to see when they visit Hualien. The upper stream of the river is split into San Zhan North and San Zhan South, which both eventually reach the sea. Part of San Zhan South is what's known as Gold Canyon, a large swath of the southern branch that had golden rocks, beautifully reflective water, and great views of the landscape.
※Sha Po Dang(Sandy Hills)
Sandy Hills Creek, is formerly known as the Atayal language Meilun Creek, the "sand woman named Dang" had a lot of meaning connected to rain. We always said the sand woman named Dang Sambo was a woman rich with gold, clean water, and lush forests. Sandy Hills Creek is part of a dam which is very deep, so this is the best place for jumping into the water from different heights. Sandy Hills Creek is a shorter route, but it has a lot of contrast in elevation, so it's really great for climbing, diving, and jumping into the water.
※ White Abalone Creek
White Abalone Creek is great for experienceing waterfalls, the endgangeredwhite abalone species, and the possible sight of green rock or jade. It's has one of the most abundant carp populations of any river. It's not too rough of a journey, and is very suitable for a family to take part in. You might even find some pretty or valuable jad or purple stones.
※ Emerald Valley
Emerald Valley is located in the village of Tongmen xiulin beside the Mugua River and some unnamed creeks with valley winds brushing the most beautiful scenery.
Because of years of protection, this area has become a very rich ecosystem.
Emerald Valley has a lot of historical monuments left by the Japanese, but also has a variety of natural landscapes, along with many boulders that need strong hands and feet to get to the top of. There are rapids, pools, and waterfalls everywhere. It's has many great spots for fish-watching. Enjoy the natural SPA.
