四重溪溫泉澡堂

Traveler Rating

During the Japanese occupation era, Sichongxi was listed as one of four famous hot springs of Taiwan, next to the likes of Beitou, Caoshan, and Guanziling. It was also free to soak in. Sichongxi is a weak alkaline spring with a PH of 7.8, and the water temperature changes according to the season, ranging between 50 and 80 degrees Celsius. The water quality is clear, and it is said that soaking in the waters of Sichongxi is beneficial to the skin, nerves, and joints. The public hot spring baths, located withinin an alley on Checheng's Wenhua Road provides free baths and showers, and is a place where the residents go to relax during the busy farming season. However it's a nude bath here, with men and woman separated and no swimsuits are allowed. The state of the environment here relies on the patrons tidying up. So if any tourists want to come here for a soak, first remember to rinse the body thoroughly beforehand. Remember not to leave any garbage behind or cause any disturbances! A park is located nearby, featuring a circular trail. Walking up, there's the Butterfly Valley Trail. In addition, thousand-year-old preserved eggs, made using ancient salting techniques and hot spring water, are a popular item here as well!
